Public Art Project:
Wessex Way, Long Wittenham

We were commissioned by Elivia Homes to make a series of unique seats and picnic table for a new housing development in Long Wittenham.

The designs were inspired by the rich architectural history of the village, particularly the historic oak timber framed cottages. We reflected this in the traditional construction methods and materials that we used. The designs also celebrate the long history of arable crop farming around Long Wittenham, with carved barley and wheat backrests on the seats, and carved beneficial arable crop insects hidden around the picnic table.

We held an Open Workshop for local residents to see how the designs were developed, the benches made, and to see wood carving in progress.
